Bangladesh did not win the series in batting and fielding

Bangladesh vs Afghanistan 03.05.22

The batsmen were disappointed. Couldn't bring the collection to fight. However, to win the match, bowling-fielding was required. But that did not happen. The bowlers have tried a little too. But in vain fielding all went in vain.

In the second and final match of the T20 series at the Sher-e-Bangla Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, Bangladesh lost by a huge margin of 8 wickets. The hosts scored 115 runs for the loss of only 2 wickets before 14 balls topped Afghanistan.

In terms of wickets, the Afghans have only one more victory in the T20 format. Bangladesh fielders also had a big contribution behind this huge victory of the visitors. Hazratullah Jazai and Usman Gani have dropped three catches.

In the end, Jazai played an innings of 59 runs from 45 balls with 5 sixes from unbeaten. Gani stopped the team's victory with 48 runs from 48 balls. Earlier, two young fast bowlers Fazal Haque Farooqi and Azmatullah Omarzai took three wickets each.

Thanks to this victory, Afghanistan shared the trophy of T20 series. Besides, Mohammad Nabi's team remained ahead with five wins in eight matches. Despite getting the opportunity, Bangladesh did not win the series against Afghanistan for the first time.

Jazai could have returned to the dressing room before opening the scoring by chasing a small target of 116 runs. The left-arm opener floated in the air with the third ball of the first over of the innings made by Nasum Ahmed, the hero of the previous match.

But Nasum could not keep the catch that came in his bowling from the front of the wicket on the non-strike edge. As a result, Jazai got his life on zero runs. However, Gurbaj was not as fortunate as Jazai.

In the first ball of the second over made by Sheikh Mehdi Hasan, leg before application was made against Gurbaj. The umpire also gave out. However, the young man saved his wicket with the review. However, it did not benefit him much.

Because after one ball, Mahmudullah became the top edge and got caught by Mahmudullah in the extra cover. In that over, the ball hit the inside edge of Jazai's bat and the ball went to the boundary. As a result, Jazai survived for a while.

After that he did not give another chance. He continued to lead the team by playing. On the other hand, Gani kept the run rate right by hitting sixes and fours in the first two balls of the fifth over by Nasum. However, Afghanistan could not score more than 34 runs in six overs of the power play.

After the end of the power play, the field was spread, but Zazai and Gani were struggling to score. As a result, they collected only 40 runs in 6 overs. But in the ninth over by Shakib Al Hasan, Zazai took control by scoring 16 runs with two sixes.

Later, Usman Gani also hit a boundary in the tenth over by Shariful Islam. In this alliance, Afghanistan is on the path of victory easily. Meanwhile, Afif Hossain in the 12th over and Naeem Sheikh in the 14th over were released by Usman Gani.

When he came to attack again in the 15th over of the innings, he hit Shakib with a pair of sixes. Jazai's fifty and Afghanistan's hundred runs were completed thanks to the second six of that over. In the next over, Mahmudullah returned Gani who scored 48 runs with the ball in hand.

However, it did not benefit much. Jazai hit a six off the last ball of the 16th over by Shariful to level the score. Darwish Rasuli ended the match by hitting Nasum with a six.

Earlier, Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat. Like the first match, Bangladesh got the first run from wide. Fazal Haque Farooqi widens out two consecutive delivery leg stamps.

But then he turned around. In the whole over, he beat Munim in the delivery, sometimes out, sometimes inside. Munim kept the strike to himself with 1 run from leg bye in the last ball.

Afghan captain Mohammad Nabi came in to bowl the next over. Munim came out of the wicket with the second ball and hit the boundary with a long off to clear his goal plan. But every attempt to kill him became a nightmare for him.

Munim hinted at leaving the wicket before the fourth ball of that over. Seeing this, Nabi reduced the speed a little and shortened it. That is why Munim could not reach the pitch of the ball. As a result, that's what happened.

The ball bounces off the top of his bat and into the sky. Sharafuddin Ashraf confirmed the departure of Munim, who scored 4 off 10 balls with an easy catch in the mid-off. After Munim's dismissal, half-centurion Liton of the previous match had to come to the wicket in the second over.

The fourth ball of the third over by left-hander Farooqi was a bouncer on a leg stamp. Standing in place, Liton hit a six with a fine leg. But he did not stay on the wicket for long. Azmatullah Omarzai returned Liton after the attack.

In the first ball of the fifth over of the innings, Liton got out in a simple delivery made by Ajmat. Like Munim, Sharafuddin Ashraf also caught his catch.

Naeem Sheikh hit his first boundary with the ball after Liton's return. One more four off the last ball of the same over. It seemed that Naim would handle the initial push today.

But then the left-arm opener opened up. Shakib Al Hasan, who came down to number four, could not play with open arms. As a result, Bangladesh lost 2 wickets in six overs of Power Play and managed to score only 33 runs.

Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan increased the pressure by spending only 5 runs in the next two overs. The umpire gave Naeem a leg-out in the seventh over by Rashid. But the review shows that the ball fell outside the leg stamp. Naim survived as a result.

Naim had to return after one over. He missed Rashid's ball sweep. The ball hits the pad. This time the umpire did not give leg before. Naeem was run out in a direct throw to inform Karim while trying to take a quick run. The left-arm opener made 13 off 19 balls.

Shakib Al Hasan took the same path in the next over. Shakib floated in the air while going to the pool for a short length delivery of Azmat. Rahmanullah Gurbaj played the farewell bell of Shakib who scored 9 runs from 15 balls with gloves tied behind the wicket.

After such a disappointing batting of the first four batsmen, at the end of 10 overs, Bangladesh scored only 46 runs for 4 wickets. From there, Mushfiqur Rahim and captain Mahmudullah Riyad, playing their 100th T20, counter-attacked.

Bangladesh's team fifty needs to be completed in 10.2 overs. From there, the retaliation started. Mahmudullah hit a pair of boundaries in the 12th over by Rashid Khan. He took 12 runs from the last four balls of that over.

Mushfiqur found the boundary with the first ball of the next over after seeing the captain. Karim Karim later made a pair of fours in the 13th over. 12 runs came from that over. Mahmudullah completed 2,000 runs of his T20 career by hitting four off the first ball of Rashid's 15th over.

Rashid sent him to the dresing room in that over. Mahmudullah could not put the bat to sweep the delivery that fell straight to the wicket. Rashid started the celebration without applying as soon as the ball hit the pad. The umpire also confirmed that Mahmudullah's innings stopped at 21 off 14 balls.

After the captain returned, Afif Hossain Dhruv hit four off the second ball. In the next over, Mushfiqur also saw a boundary shot by Azmat. But the danger happened in the 16th over made by Farooqi.

After dismissing Mushfiqur in the first ball, Farooqi bowled Sheikh Mehdi Hasan in the third ball for 140 kmph delivery. Mushfiqur played an innings of 30 runs off 25 balls. Mehdi could not open the run book. Afif, who scored 7 off 9 balls, was dismissed in the next over by Azmat.

After that Nasum Ahmed's 5 and Mostafizur Rahman's 6 helped the team to 115. Bangladesh could not hit any boundary in the last 26 balls. There were only 12 boundaries and 56 dot balls in the entire innings.
