He expressed this interest during a courtesy call on Brazilian Ambassador Hoao Tabazara de Oliveira Jr., Minister of State for Sports at the Secretariat on Wednesday afternoon. Senior officials of the ministry including Youth and Sports Secretary Mezbah Uddin were present at the time.
Welcoming the Brazilian Ambassador, the Minister of State for Youth and Sports said, "Under the successful leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, friendly relations exist between Brazil and Bangladesh. This year marks the 50th anniversary of our diplomatic relations with Brazil.
Expressing interest in signing a memorandum of understanding with Brazil on the development of football, the state minister said, "Brazil is a very strong country in world football. We will soon send a proposal for the signing of a memorandum of understanding with Brazil on the development of football in the country. Through which the footballers and local coaches of our country will benefit. Player exchange programs will be adopted. We will bring experienced and skilled coaches from Brazil and provide training to our local coaches and technical people.
At the time, the state minister said, "We have made arrangements to provide advanced training from Brazil to four young players of the U-16 football team last year." This year we will increase it and send a full team of 11 boys players to Brazil. Besides, for the first time in Spain, we are going to send 11 girls players for the under-16 football team.
Mentioning the beginning of a new chapter in youth and sports friendly relations with Brazil, the Minister said, "We will invite a Brazilian age group to visit Bangladesh to play a friendly match. This will create an opportunity for players from both countries to exchange experiences.
Welcoming the proposal of the Minister of State for Youth and Sports, the Brazilian Ambassador said, “There are a large number of supporters of Brazilian football in Bangladesh. Which is a great pleasure for Brazilians. Bangladesh is a very nice country. The Brazilian government will provide all possible assistance for the development of all sports including football in Bangladesh. We want to see Bangladesh football in a respectable and strong position in world football. The Brazilian government will seriously consider all the proposals of Bangladesh for the development of youth and sports. We are determined to take Brazil-Bangladesh relations to new heights through sports.
